    Take 3 3D monitors. One each for the x, y and z axis. You already have a small holodeck :-)
    Or 5 (6) pieces, then you have a cube that you can walk around.

    Good idea, but even more expensive because the display size would have to be gigantic

    Alternatively, you could take 5 displays, put them together on the sides and put your head in.

    Or so. I thought the other way around. A cube that you can look at from the outside and see into the virtual interior. You can then walk around to see the 3D image from all sides.
