What exactly happened to Mikaela Shiffrin's father?

Ski superstar Mikaela Shiffrin mourns her dead father Jeff. The 65-year-old died in an accident at home. That's what Eagle County's Forensic Medicine reports.
Mourning in the ski circus! Mikaela Shiffrin, the series winner in the World Cup, mourns the loss of her father Jeff, who unexpectedly passed away on Monday at the age of 65.

After the death of her grandmother Pauline (98) in mid-November, it is the second stroke of fate for Shiffrin in a very short time.

Now comment "My family is heartbroken about the unexpected passing of my kind, loving, caring, patient, wonderful father. Our mountains, our seas, our sunshine, our heart, our soul, our everything," writes the three-time overall World Cup winner about the first pain.

"He has learned so many valuable lessons for us. The golden rule was above all: Be nice, always think first," explains the 24-year-old, who has already won 66 World Cup races in her career. "I will carry him with me forever, we already miss him incredibly."

But what really happened to Jeff Shiffrin? Eagle County's Forensic Medicine reports that he died of a head injury sustained in a home accident - in the presence of his entire family. Daughter Mikaela, son Taylor and wife Eileen accompanied Jeff on his deathbed during his final hours.

On social media, the former anesthetist is recognized by NBC reporter Tim Layden as "the perfect father for a superstar athlete" who "stepped aside when the spotlight came on."

As the leader in the overall World Cup, Shiffrin is 313 points ahead of her first rival Petra Vlhova. A week later, after the races in Garmisch, a giant slalom and a slalom would be on the program in Maribor.
